Such a lot of work goes into the magazine every year. Huge congratulations to all who made it possible.

The Green school committee had a busy year working on the theme of Global Citizenship, Litter and Waste. As part of their action plan a whole school awareness day was on 13th May incorporating all of the previous themes of the past Five Green flags. The Global Citizenship team at An Taisce were very impressed by the work completed by the Green Schools committee. So much so that the school was chosen as a regional winner for the work on the Global Citizenship Litter & Waste theme. Ms Moroney and committee members Caoimhe, Kate, Eimear and Maria travelled to Athlone yesterday to receive the award. Well done to everybody involved.

Driver Education for the Transition Years

The TYs enjoyed a day of learning with the Irish school of excellence – Secondary School Driver Education Programme run by Kieran O’Brien and his team. The morning session gave each student the opportunity to: drive a vehicle with a qualified instructor, change wheels safely, experience ‘beer goggles’ and basic mechanics. In the afternoon students got to practice questions for the Theory test, learn how to buy and tax a vehicle and learned how to use Sat Navigation systems. A unit on road safety was also covered.
The TY students received a certificate on completion of the course.
Kieran also gave students instruction on the safe use of E-Scooters.
Thanks to Kieran and his team for providing the TY group with a fun and informative day.
Míle Buíochas to Clondegad GAA for giving us the use of their car park to run the event safely.

For their final geography assignment of the year, Transition Years were given the challenge of creating a large 3D model of an Ordnance Survey Map. Students worked in groups, with each group being given a different map. They had to decide on materials to use, features to include and calculate scale. Well done to all students for their work throughout their year. ... See MoreSee Less
