Temporary Measures for Kildysart Library
As part of the Government’s Covid-19 response plan for the safe re-opening of
schools and The Roadmap for the Full Return to School, St John Bosco Community
College entered negotiations with Clare County Library Service to explore the idea of
using the library space as a classroom during school hours, while operating as the
public library in the evening time.
A number of options were looked at in an effort to support a library service from the
classroom, but due to the highly infectious nature of Covid-19 transmission, it is not
possible to use the space in a dual-function capacity.
Clare County Library Service will instead provide a contact and collect service from
outside Kildysart Library, commencing at 2:00pm on Friday, 11th September, 2020.
St John Bosco Community College continues to liaise with Clare County Library
Services during this temporary use of the library space.
The school is currently making an application to the Department of Education and
Science for additional temporary accommodation for three classroom spaces.
Currently the school is utilising a General Purpose area, the sports hall along with the
public library in order to ensure the safe return of students to the school.
The school would like to take this opportunity to thank Clare County Library Service
along with the local community for forfeiting their normal library service for a Call &
Collect service as a temporary measure. This ensuring the safe return of students to
the school.
The school hopes to see the reinstatement of Kildysart Library on the school campus
