The TY students attended inspiring talks on the following topics: Study skills & smart learning. Apprenticeship pathways. Career exploration. AI and its impact on future careers. They also got to chat 1-on-1 with industry experts, university staff, and college reps—and even managed to meet a few rugby legends!

This evening Transition Year students, along with Mr Kelleher and Ms Meaney, returned from an enjoyable overnight trip to Shannon River Adventure Centre, on the banks of the Shannon in County Roscommon. The trip was packed with thrilling activities, including paddle boarding, kayaking, archery, rock climbing, an obstacle course, pier jumping, mudslide and field based team building exercises where good communication and teamwork were key. The evening finished with a campfire and roasted marshmallows. Some students took the opportunity to fully engage with the centre's 'no phone' policy and brushed up on their card playing skills!! Our new TY class for 2026-27 got their year off to a busy start with a trip to the ancient island of Scattery today. Students gathered a lot of information on the long and colourful history of the island. They were blessed that it remained dry for them, as the heavens opened as they arrived back into Kilrush Marina! In the afternoon they then enjoyed a fascinating hour with Joe Whelan at his Museum of Irish rural life in Kilrush. There are no words to describe the treasure trove Joe has amassed over the years of the social and economic history of Kilrush and West Clare.
